Preheat 2 inches of oil in a large skillet to 365 degrees.

Drop batter by tablespoonfuls into oil. Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees and let the mix rest for 5 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes. The temperature should be around 370 f.
In a large bowl combine the cornmeal flour baking powder and salt. Cook for about 6 minutes flipping with 1 2 minutes left. Makes about 24 hush puppies. Drop the batter by teaspoonfuls into the hot fat and fry until golden brown.
Add the egg and buttermilk and stir until combined. Stir just until moistened. Add to cornmeal mixture and stir just until blended. Carefully remove from air fryer and serve.
Bake until golden about 15 to 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. Stir just until moistened batter should be lumpy. Step 2 drop batter by rounded tablespoonfuls into hot oil and fry in 3 batches 2 to 3 minutes on each side or until golden. Use a fork to flip the hush puppies over in the ebleskiver pan although traditionally you use a knitting needle.
I use a fork because the silverware drawer is closer than the store where they sell knitting needles allow the hush puppy to cook for another 5 minutes or so until it is golden brown.
